FAQ
What is Bærinthal?
Baerinthal is the valley of the bear - the guardian of the rhythms of nature and the natural paths, symbol of the goddess Artemis.
What kind of activities are there?
All... None... You can wander around, sit by the fire, sleep under the stars, swim in the natural pond, or simply enjoy nature. You can carve, collect, observe, build, harvest, or simply exercise to not-do. You can have an e-bike and explore the surroundings. You can listen to the birds and frogs, encounter pheasants, deer, dragonflies, cats, and sheep. You can let yourself get bitten by leeches (if they survive the winter). You can let the sun shine on your belly or start deeply philosophical conversations. You can watch the tree treeing. You can play, do yoga, meditate. Or eat. Or try slacklining and do acrobatics in the elderberry forest. It's entirely up to you.
How to book?
For bookings are possible via our website, by email, or by phone. We're happy to advise you on how to make your stay as pleasant as possible. We haven't involved Booking.com or any other platform yet. Please simply contact us for dates.
Is there food or catering available on site?
We don't offer traditional gastronomy, but you can use fresh ingredients from our own garden to serve yourself. We're up to shared meals as well.
Is Bærinthal suitable for families?
Conditionally. Our yurt has room for 2-3 people. There's a large bed and a sofa corner that could also be used for sleeping, as well as an outdoor bed and hammocks. Children are very welcome, but we haven't secured and protected everything; accidents are at your own risk. There are also places and locations on site that require a certain amount of caution, such as riverside vegetation or biotopes where living creatures appreciate a certain amount of privacy.
Is Bærinthal suitable for people with limited mobility?
Conditionally. We have made every effort to create level paths connecting the various sites in the valley. Nevertheless, the terrain remains largely uneven, and the path leading down the hill to the yurt is gravel, but about 250 meters long and both downhill and uphill. There are some steps and barriers. If you would like to come with a wheelchair or walker, please contact us in advance and we will discuss what we can do for you.
What animals are there on the spot?
We have sheep and cats that roam more or less freely around the property. Our sheep roam in fenced-off plots—you are free to enter them. You will see our cats everywhere. Wild animals include pheasants, deer, stags, ducks, birds, toads and frogs, dragonflies, and many other insects such as bees, bumblebees, or hornets. Don't be surprised if you startle a pheasant in the tall grass or hear a grunt from the forest (deer sometimes make very strange noises!). There are no more dangerous animals than these.
